A once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse
Tailor-made trips to the event of the century in the land of the pharaohs from specialists with over 40 years of experience

Experience the longest total solar eclipse of this century

It is indeed the astronomical event of the century, because with a maximum duration of the total phase of 6 minutes and 23 seconds, the eclipse on August 2nd, 2027 is the longest total solar eclipse until June 3rd, 2114. However, not only the length of the total phase is extraordinary, but also the fact that the spot of the maximum of totality is located in the desert, between the Red Sea and Luxor. Furthermore, the statistical probability of a completely cloud-free sky in this area in August is approx. 82%. Ideal conditions for observing this unique astronomical phenomenon.

We offer you the opportunity to experience the solar eclipse on August 2nd, 2027 as part of a cultural tour, a Nile cruise or a trip to the Red Sea. You shall observe the solar eclipse at prime locations, which we shall provide exclusively to our guests. The focus of our cultural tours is the city of Luxor with its world-famous pharaonic antiquities and a duration of the total phase that is only 3 seconds shorter than the maximum of totality in the desert. Combinations of Luxor with visits to Cairo or to Aswan are also possible, as are combinations with the oases of the Western Desert, where the length of the total phase at Bahareya Oasis, for example, is a spectacular 6 minutes & 22 seconds.

The southern coastal region of the Red Sea, which is located in the totality zone, also offers excellent opportunities to experience the solar eclipse of the century. Depending on the location, the duration of the total phase there shall be between 5 minutes and 12 seconds (north of Marsa Alam) and 6 minutes and 20 seconds (in the far south near Berenice). In this context, we offer you the opportunity to combine high-quality diving or snorkeling from land or on board a liveaboard with a beach vacation and, of course, with the solar eclipse.

We look forward to your request.

The regions of Egypt

Luxor
Luxor is the site of the ancient Egyptian royal metropolis of Thebes. If you translate the name of the city, it means "city of palaces", and this is exactly what characterizes Luxor: Here you can discover Egypt as it once was. Travelers can admire magnificent chapels, numerous temples, archaeological sites and much more in what is probably the largest open-air museum in the world.
Red Sea
Egypt has around 1,500 kilometers of coastline on the Red Sea. All year round, visitors can take part in many leisure activities, as the Red Sea is a paradise for vacationers who want to dive, snorkel, surf, kite, and swim or simply relax in the warm Egyptian sun.
Cairo
Cairo offers a wealth of interesting attractions and activities. Pharaonic Cairo, with probably the most famous buildings in the world, the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx on the one hand, and Islamic Cairo, with hundreds of mosques that characterize the entire cityscape on the other side, bear witness to the uniqueness of this fascinating city, bustling with life 24 hours a day.
Aswan
Many people will be familiar with Aswan mainly because of the High Dam. However, the city offers a wealth of landmarks that are idyllically embedded in the beautiful landscape. The Isis Temple of Philae, for example, is one of the best-preserved buildings of Ancient Egypt. The exceptional Nubian hospitality, which can be experienced in a number of particularly original hotels and guesthouses, should also be emphasized.
Abu Simbel
The two most beautiful rock-cut temples in history were built in Abu Simbel: The Great Temple, dedicated to the triad of gods Amun-Re, Re-Harachte and Ptah, but actually built for the eternal glory of the great Ramses II; and the second temple, dedicated to the goddess Hathor and built by the pharaoh for his wife Nefertari. The most attractive way to visit the temple complex is arguably on board a Lake Nasser cruise ship.
Oases & Desert
A desert tour through the eastern part of the Sahara is not only a unique nature experience, but also an encounter with the Bedouin tribes of this region. Our tours include the oases with their small villages, palm groves, fruit plantations and vegetable fields. Bubbling hot water springs, long sand dunes, the lava-strewn "Black Desert" and the "White Desert" with its bizarre limestone formations are contrasts that make for a truly unforgettable experience.

What our customers say

This was my third trip to Egypt with Beluga. Everything worked out perfectly again and I really enjoyed the expertly planned travel program. The Nile cruise on the traditional Dahabeya was a real highlight. It will certainly not have been my last trip with Beluga to this fascinating country.

Friends had recommended Beluga Reisen to me for my first trip to Egypt. Ten days with the family in Cairo and Upper Egypt. The advice, planning and execution of the trip were excellent and we experienced and saw a lot. As a family with children, an individual, balanced travel program was particularly important to us. The family-run accommodation also met our expectations. All in all, a very nice trip that I can definitely recommend.

I have been booking my diving trips with Beluga since 2014 and have always been satisfied. The team knows Egypt very well, which is why my first cultural trip to the land of the pharaohs was also organized by Beluga. The advice was excellent and the individually designed two-week itinerary was a perfect mix of sightseeing, authentic experiences and relaxation. The guides were all very competent and friendly. The accommodation met my expectations. Everything was excellent and highly recommended.

For my 50th birthday, Beluga organized a ten-day desert tour for me and my closest friends. Everything worked out perfectly and the Bedouin guides took excellent care of us. Everything was very authentic and had plenty of expedition character. The off-road vehicles were in good condition and we always felt safe. Highly recommended!

As a woman traveling alone, I particularly appreciated the competent advice. During my 10 days in Cairo, I saw a lot of interesting things away from the usual tourist crowds and never felt uncomfortable. My guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The program was perfectly planned, not too tight and without time pressure. All in all, a thoroughly positive experience.

I have been to Egypt many times and came across Beluga when I was looking for a cruise on Lake Nasser. The large cruise ships were not really an option for me and Beluga had a smaller, traditional ship on offer. The trip was exactly what I wanted. Attractive anchorages, interesting attractions, delicious food and, last but not least, a very friendly crew. The ship also suited my taste perfectly. The view of the temples of Abu Simbel from the lake was also unforgettable. My husband and I really enjoyed the cruise. Thanks also for the tip to avoid the weeks with the highest probability of sandstorms.
