Liveaboard trip aboard the MY AVO

The liveaboard at a glance

The MY AVO is a modern and comfortable upper-mid-range liveaboard vessel designed specifically for discerning divers. With its spacious accommodations, high-quality amenities, and thoughtful design, it offers the ideal conditions for unforgettable liveaboard trips in the Red Sea. Built in 2024, the vessel combines contemporary comfort with professional facilities for divers and fosters a relaxed atmosphere on board—both during dives and during the rest periods between dives. With a length of approximately 44 meters and only twelve cabins, the MY AVO is among the most spacious liveaboards in its class. The ship was specifically designed for extended stays at sea and offers plenty of space to relax. Modern navigation and safety systems, along with an experienced crew, ensure a safe and smooth journey at all times.

The lounge on the upper deck

Daily briefings are held in the air-conditioned lounge on the main deck. Here, guests can also sit together comfortably, watch a movie on the large flat-screen TVs, or wind down the day with a drink. Delicious meals are served both indoors on the upper deck and on the upper deck’s outdoor terrace. The kitchen combines international dishes with regional specialties, ensuring culinary variety throughout the safari. Meals are always freshly prepared, and the chef’s repertoire also includes BBQ evenings and live cooking.

The sun deck is particularly popular, featuring both shaded and sunny areas, a bar, and a hot tub. With a magnificent panoramic view of the Red Sea and a cool drink in hand, it’s the perfect place to relax and chat with fellow divers. Wi-Fi is available on board at no charge, subject to signal availability.

Six Standard cabins are located on the lower deck. Of these, two cabins are furnished with twin beds, while four cabins are equipped with double beds that can also be converted into twin beds. Four Superior cabins are located on the main deck, two with twin beds and two with double beds that can also be converted into twin beds. All cabins feature large windows with ocean views, individually controlled air conditioning, a private bathroom with a hairdryer and bathrobes, satellite TV, and ample storage space. For guests seeking even greater comfort, two exclusive suites are available on the upper deck. These offer particularly spacious accommodations, large panoramic windows, and a minibar.

The diving operation

The MY AVO was specifically designed for divers. The spacious dive deck offers plenty of room for gear and for preparing for dives. Instead of conventional Zodiacs, the MY AVO is equipped with two custom-built speedboats that offer more space, comfort, and safety. Each boat is powered by an 85-horsepower outboard motor, ensuring reliable and efficient transfers to the dive sites. Thoughtful features such as secure tank holders and storage space for gear ensure a smooth and well-organized operation. Diving is conducted using the ENOS diver location system, a highly effective safety system that is rarely used aboard liveaboard vessels in the Red Sea. Nitrox is available free of charge for certified divers.

Date, route & solar eclipse

Embarkation: on 29.07.2027 in Port Ghalib near Marsa Alam.

Disembarkation: on 07.08.2027 in Port Ghalib near Marsa Alam.

Route & solar eclipse: We have planned a St. Johns Tour. On August 2nd, 2027, the day of the solar eclipse of the century, the ship will anchor at a reef system directly along the central line of the totality zone, southeast of Berenice. The length of the total phase there will be an extraordinary 6 minutes & 20 seconds, only three seconds less than the maximum of totality in the desert southeast of the Upper Egyptian city of Luxor. The event will last approximately 2 hours & 45 minutes from the beginning of the partial eclipse.

You have the truly unique opportunity to experience the solar eclipse in combination with an underwater dive, or you can observe this extremely rare phenomenon on the sun deck of the ship.

Eye protection: Observing a solar eclipse without protective filters (solar eclipse glasses) can lead to serious and permanent damage to the eyes, including blindness. HERE you will find expert tips on how to protect your eyes.
